We have 2 sets of teeth: primary teeth (or baby teeth) and permanent teeth (or adult teeth).
The first primary tooth comes in the mouth at around 6 months old in the bottom front area. Then other teeth will follow until there are 20 teeth at age 2 to 2 and a half years old.

 

There are 32 teeth in the permanent set.  The first permanent tooth comes in around 6 years old. The first ones to come in are the permanent first molars in the bottom back on both sides next to the primary molars.
